14 DAY TRIAL // Capcom has just detailed the second of its Resident Evil games that will appear for the upcoming Nintendo 3DS console, entitled Resident Evil: Revelations.
While Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D will deliver a more action-orientated experience, so that players have fun killing zombies, Revelations will focus on the classic elements of the Resident Evil franchise, including fear, suspense and puzzle-solving, as well as killing zombies from time to time.
According to the game's producer, Masachika Kawata, Revelations will deliver a "true survival horror experience," in the vein of the first few Resident Evil games.
Kawata revealed that in recent times, Capcom tried to add more action and refine the gameplay for new Resident Evil games, including the most recent fifth installment, but for Revelations, his team would try to bring back horror elements and aim at making the players so scared that they wouldn't be able to move.
Resident Evil: Revelations will see classic duo Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine stranded on an ocean liner infested with zombies, and they will have to explore it in order to find out where the infection started and how they can stop before it's too late.
According to Kawata, players will need to solve classic puzzles but also explore the ship bit by bit, as you never know when zombies or other creatures pop out.
Ammo will be limited and players will be faced with unpredictable enemies, but they will be able to move and shoot at the same time, just like Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D
The game is still a long way from reaching fans of the survival horror franchise, as Kawata says that work is around 20% done, as Capcom focused more on the easier part to develop Mercenaries, which already reached 70%, but doesn't have an actual story.
Both of those games will appear after the retail launch of the Nintendo 3DS, which will happen next February in Japan and in March for the rest of the world.
