Resident Evil: Revelations promises players they will get the same experience on the Nintendo 3DS handheld that they would have on a home console while also exploring a new adventure, close to the core rules of the franchise.

And speaking with Satoru Iwata of Nintendo during his Asks segment, Masachika Kawata, who is one of the producers working on Resident Evil: Revelations, has stated, “Maybe I shouldn’t say this, but looking at the finished game makes me think why we didn’t slap a number on the title. It’s a true-as-can-be Resident Evil game from head to toe, so please enjoy it.”

The developer says that the aim was to make a whole new experience for the Nintendo 3DS handheld while making sure that it stayed true to the original concepts of the franchise.

A port was never taken into account, according to the developer.

He added, “Another thing was that, whereas Resident Evil 4 had changed the model for the series of the numbering titles from there on out, I wanted to get back to the origins of the series by returning the direction to its horror roots. We created a team that could create a truly frightening Resident Evil.”

The events of Resident Evil: Revelations take place during the middle of the 21 century’s first decade. It sees agents of the Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance engage with a terrorist group that aims to infect the population on Earth with a new strain of the T-virus, developed in an aquatic environment.

The developers promised that players would have to deal with limited ammunition for their weapons and with a limited range of available movements when getting ready to take out enemies.

Resident Evil: Revelations will be launched on January 27 in Europe and February 7 in North America.
