The development team at Capcom working on Resident Evil Revelations 2 is announcing that the Raid Mode, which was first introduced in the first game in the series, is set to be expanded and will offer a more interesting experience, with a new video and some screenshots showing the action it can deliver.

54 Raid Mode missions will be included in the first episode of the game, which is set to be offered on February 24, and the second and the third will add another 36 each.

Finally, gamers will receive another batch of 68 missions in the final episode of Resident Evil Revelations 2.

At first, the new mode will only be playable offline, by one player or using split-screen cooperative mechanics, and after the final episode is delivered and the retail disc arrives, the developers will also make it available online.

The announcement explains that “The team has completed work on the story mode content and is now ensuring online Raid co-op will function as expected; while this means a slight delay in online play, the feature will be present down the road.”

The new incarnation of Raid for Resident Evil Revelations 2 is designed to introduce a range of new weapons, more custom parts for them to be upgraded, and four times the number of skills for characters, all of them required to deal with the improved enemy forces.

Resident Evil Revelations 2 aims to adopt an episodic gaming structure

Capcom is experimenting with the new title in the long-running franchise, giving gamers the option to get it as four episodes or to wait in order to pick up a retail disc.

This might create some problems when it comes to the characters that players can use in the Raid mode.

Capcom adds, “There are 15 playable characters total; each new episode you buy adds more to your roster, or depending on what bundle you purchased you'll also have Hunk (digital Complete Season) or both Hunk and Wesker (retail disc). If you end up buying each Episode a la carte, you'll get the Episode-related characters with each new Episode, and Hunk/Wesker will be available as paid DLC.”

Resident Evil Revelations 2 can be played on the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4, the PC, and last-gen consoles.
