Resident Evil: Revelations 2, the next entry in the series from Capcom, has just received some more details about its actual gameplay, confirming that it has only a local co-op mode, as players will not be able to work together via any sort of online functionality.

Resident Evil: Revelations appeared a few years ago first as a 3DS exclusive experience, but it soon made its way onto other platforms like PC, PS3, or Xbox 360 due to the popularity it enjoyed with fans of the long-running survival horror franchise.

Revelations 2 promises to continue the theme of the first game and it's already been confirmed that two players can go through the campaign, one controlling Claire Redfield and the other helping out by guiding Moira Burton.

New details from Capcom eliminate online co-op possibility

However, while the cooperative mode is available locally, it seems that Capcom is unwilling to add an online support for the mode, meaning players will have to be in the same room, on the same console to work together.

The details arrive from a 4Gamer interview with Capcom's developers, via NeoGAF, with the employees confirming that, while the co-op mode works only locally, players can switch between characters in case they get bored.

Story focuses on Claire and Moira

The two developers also go on to detail the game's actual story, first off by confirming that it won't have any connection to the first Revelations, especially since it has all-new protagonists, in the form of Claire and Moira.

Their team-up is a novel one and Capcom confirms that Moira, which is just a 20-year-old girl, needs time to cope with the fact that she's stranded in a prison infested with monsters. She will also play a bigger role towards the end of the story, but no other details have been given.

Last but not least, the two developers also touch on the game's motto, which is "evil is watching," confirming that the adventures of Claire and Moira will be overseen by a mysterious third character using the many cameras that are scattered throughout the island on which the prison and the ladies will be located.

The game isn't going to be all about shooting enemies, as players will have to solve puzzles, gather weapons and ammo, as well as learn more about the Afflicted monsters that they'll have to face during their escape.

Resident Evil: Revelations 2 launches next year for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
