Resident Evil: Revelations 2 has just received a few new details and screenshots depicting some of the monsters included in the survival horror experience, from creatures made out of multiple bodies to wild animals transformed by the new virus in the game.

Resident Evil: Revelations 2 continues the gritty survival horror experience seen in the first Revelations, while changing many other things, from the protagonists to the setting, and even the types of monsters encountered by the main characters – Claire Redfield and Moira Burton.

New monsters are presented

After sharing quite a few details about the game's story and how it will shed more light on what happened to Claire Redfield during other Resident Evil games, Capcom is now shining a spotlight on some of the vicious beasts players will meet during the campaign.

Besides the new Afflicted enemies that will offer the traditional zombie-like experience, Revelations 2 introduces quite a few special varieties, starting with the Revenant, according to the official Facebook page.

As you can see in the screenshots above and below, the Revenant is composed out of multiple bodies that have been sewn together. The creature is quite tough even if it's alone and unaccompanied by regular enemies. However, its mutation has resulted in a weak point that's present in a random spot on each creature.

During the portions of the campaign where you'll play as Barry Burton and Natalia, the mysterious girl can use her special ability to pinpoint the weak zone on a Revenant, according to the studio.

Another major monster is the Othrus, which acts as a sort of canine beast that walks around in packs and can easily overwhelm players if they're not careful. Both Claire Redfield and Barry Burton will encounter these beasts, so pay attention.

Last but not least, there's the Sploder, which, as its name suggests, features pustules on his body that can explode when attacked. Capcom advises players to take them out from a distance as the goo not only damages but also blinds the player for a certain amount of time. Capcom recommends players who control Moira to use her flashlight in order to keep the Sploders at bay.
