Capcom has confirmed that it's going to deliver Resident Evil: Revelations 2, the next chapter in its survival horror series, as an episodic experience, with four chapters being set to appear in the span of four weeks.

Resident Evil: Revelations was among the most well-received recent entries in the survival horror franchise from Capcom, with fans and critics appreciating the back to basics approach in terms of story, atmosphere, and gameplay.

Revelations brings quite a lot of changes

For Resident Evil: Revelations 2, Capcom hopes to deliver the same intense survival horror feel, while making quite a lot of different changes in terms of story and the delivery of the actual game.

After revealing that it focuses on Claire Redfield and Moira Barnes, Capcom has now confirmed that the actual game won't appear as a full-fledged retail one. Instead, it will be available as an episodic experience, similar to how Telltale Games did with The Wolf Among Us or The Walking Dead.

Unlike those franchises, however, Capcom is going to deploy the new chapters at a faster pace, with four episodes being set to appear across four weeks.

"Evolving the episodic chapter set-up of the original Resident Evil Revelations, Resident Evil Revelations 2 will initially release as a weekly series of episodic downloads. Each of the four episodes will feature hours of terrifying gameplay ending with dramatic cliff-hangers that will leave players fully engrossed and anticipating the next twist in the gripping horror story," Capcom explains.

Fans can get the whole season or a retail version

Resident Evil: Revelations 2 will receive, just like The Walking Dead, a full season offer, which automatically updates the game once a new episode is released. For those who like to have a disc, a special retail version of Revelations 2 will also be launched when the final episode appears.

The complete season of the game comes with the four chapters as well as exclusive game content that hasn't been detailed just yet.

The actual retail edition will feature even more additional game content, besides the actual chapters and the things included in the complete season.

Each of Resident Evil: Revelations 2's episodes will retail for around 6 USD/EUR. The complete season is going to be sold for 25 USD/EUR, while the retail disc comes with a 40 USD/EUR price tag.

The game will be available for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One platforms around the world in early 2015.
