14 DAY TRIAL // A series of official story details about Resident Evil: Revelations 2 has just been revealed, alongside a set of screenshots showing off the new protagonists, Claire Redfield and Moira Burton, as well as the spooky environments they'll explore in the survival horror experience.
Resident Evil: Revelations 2 promises to continue the survival horror experience that started with the original Revelations. The first title was one of the most popular entries in Capcom's series from the past few years, managing to win back plenty of fans through its intense atmosphere and tight gameplay.
The new game is about Claire Redfield and Moira Burton
After hearing a few leaked details last week, Capcom has stepped forward with an official confirmation of the game's story.
As we previously heard, the title focuses on two new characters, dumping Revelations 1 protagonist Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine for Claire Redfield, Chris' sister, and Moira Burton, daughter of the popular Barry Burton from Resident Evil 1.
Apparently, after the traumatic events in Raccoon City and the various other adventures she went through, Claire Redfield is now working for the anti-bioterrorism organization Terra Save. Among the new employees is also Moira Burton. Unfortunately for the two ladies, a company party turns tragic as armed forces storm the offices.
"Claire and Moira are knocked unconscious and awaken later to find themselves in a dark and abandoned detention facility. Working together, they must find out who took them and to what sinister end," Capcom says in an official announcement.
Afflicted enemies are the main monsters
The two ladies are stuck in a derelict prison and must go up against the new Afflicted enemies, which replace the traditional zombies and infected opponents that were seen in past games of the series.
"With the terrifying Afflicted enemies waiting around every dark corner, players will need to use their ammo and weapon supply wisely, in classic survival horror style. Will Claire and Moira make it out alive and discover what’s led to them being taken to this remote island? Who else will they come across? A story of twists and turns will have players guessing the next step at every turn."
Capcom plans on creating a big community around the new game so that both Claire and Moira make a lasting impact on the already large number of Resident Evil fans from around the world.
Resident Evil: Revelations 2 is set to debut in early 2015 across a variety of platforms, in the form of PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
