Capcom has offered a wide array of details about the visuals and graphics options in Resident Evil remastered, confirming that the game runs at a 30fps framerate across all consoles, meaning PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.

Resident Evil appeared way back in 1996 and turned the survival horror genre into a popular one in terms of video games. Since then, Capcom has remastered the experience once, back in 2002, and has promised to release another overhauled version of the iconic title in 2015.

The announcement was made last week and now some more official details have surfaced online, via the actual website, pertaining to the visuals of the new game, not to mention its performance across the consoles on which it will appear.

More specifically, on the PS4 and Xbox One, Resident Evil will run at 1080p full HD resolution and a 30fps framerate. On the PS3 and Xbox 360, the game is locked at a 720p resolution and a 30fps framerate. On the PC, no details have been given, but you can bet that 1080p and 60fps can be reached by most powerful computers.

Capcom also goes in-depth about the visual improvements made to the original game, including how the video backgrounds of the old title have been remastered.

"The environments come alive with detail thanks to resolution upgrades and non-static 3D models. Post-processing effects like Bloom filters, which were not easy to do at the time of the original release, have been added to make the HD graphics even more realistic," it explains.

"The original game called this technique 'video backgrounds.' We recorded the backgrounds themselves as videos to create realism that couldn't be rendered in real time with the technology of the time."

The resolution can be shifted on the fly in terms of ratio, going from the original 4:3 to 16:9, and in the widescreen mode special improvements have been made to ensure maximum performance.

"You can play in the original 4:3 screen ratio as well as 16:9 widescreen. CG cutscene movies also support the new widescreen ratio. In widescreen mode, the screen will scroll. The parts of the screen that get cut off on the top and bottom will scroll into view automatically depending on the character's position."

The audio side of the game has been remastered to support 5.1 output and the control scheme has seen the addition of analog stick support, in addition to the classic D-pad option.

Resident Evil will be re-released as a digital download next year.
