After revealing the release date and the special collections that will be available for loyal fans, Capcom and Slant Six Games have now presented the multiplayer Heroes mode that’s a part of the upcoming Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City shooter.

While fans certainly raised their eyebrows and expressed their disapproval when Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City was announced at the beginning of the year, slowly but surely Capcom managed to showcase to all of them how interesting the new game will be, as it’s going to let them play as special Umbrella Security Services members who are sent to clean up the traces of the corporation’s involvement following the zombie outbreak in the city.

Besides the regular single-player campaign, in which players can even mess around with the continuity of the series and take on former game protagonists like Leon Kennedy, Operation Raccoon City also has a multiplayer mode, called Heroes.

In it, players will be a part of two distinct teams, either actual heroes from previous games, from Leon Kennedy to Claire Redfield, Jill Valentine or Carlos Oliveira, or less that decent characters, like Umbrella Security Services members Hunk or Lone Wolf, as well as Nicholai Ginovaef or Ada Wong.

Each of these characters have special abilities and unique talents that need to be used by players if they want their team to win and their own character to survive the bloodshed that will no doubt ensure during regular matches.

Players will fight against one another in four versus four competitions, but must also pay attention to their surroundings, as they’re fighting through the ruins of Raccoon City which are filled with zombies and various other monsters and biological dangers.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City will be released on March 20, 2012, in North America, and March 23, in Europe, for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, while a PC version is scheduled to appear after that.

Until then, check out the screenshots and trailer below for the game’s Heroes Mode.
