Capcom has clarified some earlier reports that it will be running a beta stage for its upcoming Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City shooter title, saying that neither a beta nor a demo will be made available before its release at the end of March, next year.

Capcom is getting ready to deploy a couple of new Resident Evil games in early 2012, including the Resident Evil: Revelations title for the Nintendo 3DS, which will be priced higher than regular 3DS games, as well as Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, for all sorts of platforms.

Last week, Capcom was quoted as saying that a beta stage for Operation Raccoon City will be made available before its release in March, but the company has now clarified these issues, saying that there won't be any sort of demo or beta released before its release.

"There has been some media coverage this week stating Capcom will run a public beta and release a demo for its upcoming title Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City," the company said on its Unity blog. "Unfortunately this was due to a website misreporting what was said during an interview."

"Although we will not be releasing a consumer demo or hosting a beta there will be plenty of opportunities for fans to play the game before it releases on March 20th in North America and March 23rd in Europe."

Capcom emphasizes that it will be organizing quite a few community events both in Europe and in North America where people can try out all of the company's new games on a variety of devices and platforms.

Until then, however, expect the Japanese company to present some more details on Operation Raccoon City, after already showcasing the game's release date of late March, its pre-order bonuses, as well as the Special Edition of the new Resident Evil title, which includes all sorts of in-game and real life items for loyal fans.
