Video game publisher Capcom says that it has determined that the fan base for the Resident Evil franchise is in its late 30s and early 40s at the moment, which poses a long-term challenge for the development team working on the series.

The company is quoted by Siliconera as saying that some fans might soon no longer be interested in any video games because of their age.

Resident Evil needs to attract a younger generation of gamers with its next installments and it seems that one solution that Capcom has found is to collaborate with fashion labels in order to appeal to new players.

Resident Evil 6 was launched in late 2012 and failed to impress critics or fans.

Capcom has not yet announced whether it plans to launch a seventh full title in the series or reboot it entirely in order to introduce a number of new mechanics.
