The combination of three stories offers more content

Resident Evil 6 will be about twice as long as the previous game in the long-running action and horror series, mainly because the development team at Capcom is ready to introduce more storylines for the players to explore.

Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, who is a producer working on Resident Evil 6, has told the European PlayStation blog that, “If you play all three storylines all the way through, you’ll see everything you can see from every side in terms of story.

“It’s quite a lot of volume: we estimate that each one of these storylines is probably around 70% to 80% of the volume of the whole game in Resident Evil 5. So with three separate storylines, there’s plenty to play here.”

The developer also says that the E3 2012 demo for Resident Evil 6 shows a slice of gameplay, but it’s not necessarily a clear picture of how the entire full game will play.

Yoshiaki Hirabayashi added, “That’s not how it’s going to be when you come across the Ustanak in the final game – you’ll still have Resident Evil-style situations where you have a shotgun with only two shells in it and you have to make sure you make it counts.”

He emphasized that the horror aspect of the Resident Evil franchise would be more prominent in its sixth full game, especially via mechanics that limited the resources players can use during each situation.

Resident Evil 6 will allow gamers to play as three teams: Leon S. Kennedy and his new partner Helena Harper, mercenary Jake Muller and Sherry Birkin, Chris Redfield and Piers Nivans.

For the first time in the series, players will be able to shoot while moving.

Resident Evil 6 will be launched on the PC, the Xbox 360 from Microsoft and the PlayStation 3 from Sony on October 2 of this year in both North America and Europe.
