Capcom has issued a very brief explanation about the timed exclusivity the Resident Evil 6 demo has on the Xbox 360 platform, appearing a full two months before the PlayStation 3 edition.

Resident Evil 6 was just revealed last month and, since then, it has managed to impress legions of people with its trailer, as well as with its first details.

As we heard last week, the game will get a demo in summer, which can be accessed only by those who buy new copies of Capcom’s upcoming Dragon’s Dogma title.

As you may remember, however, there’s one pretty big catch, as Xbox 360 owners get the Resident Evil 6 on July 3, a full two months ahead of PlayStation 3 users, who receive it on September 4.

According to Capcom, which talked with Boxden, this timed exclusivity was a “strategic business decision,” so it’s safe to say that Microsoft made a similar deal to the one it has with Activision that covers downloadable content for Call of Duty games.

The company didn’t elaborate on the decision, so it seems that only Xbox 360 owners will be able to try out the Resident Evil 6 demo this summer, while PS3 users need to wait until the beginning of fall. The full game is out on November 20.
