The Resident Evil franchise is one of the most recognized series of horror survival video games out there. While the clever backstory, the complicated environments and eerie atmosphere all had a part to play when it came to the success of the game, a big factor that made it popular with all types of gamers was the fact that it mostly featured both a male and a female main characters.

While it wasn't the case with all the titles in the series, the latest iteration, Resident Evil 5, will follow the same lead, placing franchise veteran Chris Redfield alongside the lovely Sheva Alomar, both of them having some very attractive presences on screen. But while Chris Redfiel already had his main characteristics polished after appearing in the first title of the series, the Capcom development team had a challenge on its hands when it came to creating Sheva, says the producer of the game, Jun Takeuchi.

Takeuchi goes on to say that he himself opted for a complete redesign during the creation process because he didn't really want a presence that would deter any male gamer from the action on screen, and revealed the main focus of the team, which wasn't to create a model more beautiful than Beyonce but hotter than Angelina Jolie.

“We had the idea for Sheva very early on in development. We knew exactly what kind of character we wanted her to be, but it took a long time to get her design to the right level of attractiveness before we were satisfied. [Laughs] We kept going back to the design, and I was actually the one who made the most complaints and asked for it to be redone. We spent a lot of time designing and redesigning her. Ultimately, we probably went through 50 Sheva variations.”

So there you have it, when the full game gets released in March, you'll certainly appreciate the work that has gone into making Sheva and her beautiful on-screen presence, while she's busy shooting zombies and helping your main character.
