Resident Evil is currently one of the most successful and popular horror game franchises out there, offering players an excellent zombie shooter gameplay since 1996. The game emphasizes the dark surroundings and different types of monsters combined with a very gritty atmosphere to give players a true horror experience.

Now, as the latest title in the series, Resident Evil 5, is approaching its launch, scheduled for the middle of March 2009, Capcom, the company responsible for the development of the series, is offering fans more and more details about the game. We recently reported that Jun Takeuchi, the producer of the game, and Yasuhiro Anpo, the director, discussed the new type of gameplay that would be custom-made for the daylight surroundings of this upcoming title, which would be the first one to have no nighttime setting.

Now, Yasuhiro Anpo has just talked about the design of the new co-op mode that would see its first implementation in this game. When he was asked if the levels were short in length, so as to allow one of the players to quickly leave the game if other tasks needed to be done, Anpo replied that the AI (Artificial Intelligence) would take over and keep playing along with the other person.

"We can tell you that we have designed these levels with the knowledge that online play is very important to this game. However, the levels won't be divided up into 10 minute jumps. They won't be as short as that. So, for example, you're playing with your wife, and she has to go to make dinner. Instead of making the stages so that you can complete them in 10 minutes, we've created the A.I. system so it can take over at any time. And, you know, the A.I. in this game is pretty advanced, so you probably won't be able to tell the difference between the A.I. and your wife."

Some very interesting statements, which are sure to make players very interested in this new co-op mode. For those of you who don't know, Resident Evil 5 will have most of its action oriented towards co-operative gameplay, giving players a much more refined experience.
