“The Hidden Costs of Hamburgers” argues that our eating less meat can benefit the planet

We just came across this video made public by the Center for Investigative Reporting a couple of days ago and we were quite surprised to learn that, as unbelievable as it might seem, our society's beef consumption is negatively impacting on the environment to a considerable extent.

As it turns out, simply raising livestock in order to get meat puts considerable strain on global natural resources, since they need to be properly fed and relatively large portions of land need be made available to animal farms.

Moreover, it seems that the huge amounts of manure resulting from this ever-expanding industry contribute to air pollution, as toxic chemical compounds get released into the atmosphere.

However, the good news is that something as simple as cutting down on our meat intake can lead to significant improvements in terms of environmental protection sooner than one might expect.

We strongly advise you to watch this video, as it makes one think about issues which normally go unnoticed, especially given the fact that other environmental problems receive much more media attention.
