In our quest for the perfect love and that soul mate that is like half an orange for us, we have often wondered about which could be the “secret ingredients” for making marriage work. A new poll conducted in the UK comes to offer us the answer to this ever-burning question: speaking strictly numbers, it takes four kisses, three cuddles and one “I love you” to make any marriage last the test of time.

The poll was conducted by a wedding planning website, Confetti, on over 3,000 married couples who admitted to having the perfect relationship. What the survey showed was that, in order to have a marriage that lasted throughout time, it took plenty of attention on behalf of both partners, commitment and… a number of specific romantic gestures, as a piece in the Daily Mail informs.

According to the numbers made public, meeting through friends and walking down the aisle after three and a half years of courtship are among two of the most important factors that guarantee a perfect marriage. If the groom is 31 years old and, at the same time, two years and three months older than his future spouse, then a fortunate couple life lies ahead of him. Similarly, the couple should wait for two years and two months before having a baby to keep the romance alive and enjoy each other’s company.

Speaking of romance, the same survey has shown that the two should say “I love you” at least once a day and make love three times a week for their marriage to work. “Two romantic meals out each month and three nights a week cuddling on the sofa also helps. Three calls, emails or texts while at work keeps the relationship strong. And while the ideal couple will share two hobbies, it is also important to keep some independence. Two separate nights out with friends a month is the answer.” the Daily Mail piece also includes as important factors for the marriage to last.

“This shows just how many components make up the perfect marriage. And after the wedding hype is over, it shows how important it is to keep the magic with regular kisses, cuddles and romantic nights out.” a spokesperson for the website tells the same publication about the findings of the survey.
