Visitors to the Monterey Bay Aquarium in the United States can now feast their eyes on this adorable sea otter that has only recently been put on public display at said facility.

The adorable creature is named Otter 649, and has been living in captivity since it was just a few weeks old, Zoo Borns reports.

Thus, the sea otter was rescued when it was just a very young pup. More precisely, it was found stranded on a beach in Santa Barbara County back in November 2013.

At that time, it weighed about 7 pounds (3.2 kilograms), and it was in a fairly poor condition health-wise. Thanks to the care it received at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, it managed to get back on its feet.

Vets say that it now tips the scale at 16 pounds (7.25 kilograms), and it is both physically fit and active.

The young rescue now shares an enclosure with another sea otter by the name Gidget, and appears to quite enjoy being at the center of attention.

Like Otter 649, Gidget was rescued when it was just a pup. Neither of the animals is believed to be able to survive in the wild, which is why they will spend the rest of their lives in captivity.
