Developer Camouflaj announces that its stealth adventure video game Republique Remastered is now available on Steam for Windows PC and Mac.

The game was originally released on iOS at the end of 2013 and Android back in October 2014, and now its enhanced edition has made the jump to Steam, landing on bigger platforms.

The game was funded through a highly successful Kickstarter campaign back in 2012, and its initial release was met with praise from both critics and gamers.

Republique is an episodic video game, and so far the first three chapters in its story have been released, with the remaining two to be announced at a later date.

The game first sparked from the desire to create a proper, "real" game for mobile platforms, but as the idea gained traction, the development team at Camouflaj decided to expand the scope of the project.

The game takes place in a totalitarian state with a distinct Orwellian flavoring, within a facility called the Metamorphosis, where the Prizrak, the citizens of the oppressive state, perform various experiments on the Pre-Cals, people born and raised within the facility.

Sneaking and diversion are your best friends

You are contacted by phone by Republique's heroine, Hope, and you have to guide her through the facility, jumping from one security camera's feed to another, scouting ahead, opening and locking doors and looking around the environment for clues and information.

You are helped in your quest by a mysterious character named Cooper, an undercover operative working inside the Metamorphosis, who offers helpful hints during your journey.

The actual gameplay focuses a lot on stealth, with the dev team talent featuring industry veterans who previously worked on Metal Gear Solid 4, Halo 4, FEAR, Black & White 2, and SOCOM.

You have to guide Hope through the perilous environment, planning her every step, and make strategic choices and solve the puzzles you stumble upon along the way.

We're currently working on a review of Republique Remastered, so stay tuned for our impressions on the game later today.
