14 DAY TRIAL // Chuck Grassley, the Republican United States senator from Iowa, questions the impact that violent video games have on children after new reports suggest that the Sandy Hook shooter was trying to beat high scores set by other criminals.
The politician is quoted by Polygon as saying, “There are too many video games that celebrate the mass killing of innocent people — games that despite attempts at industry self-regulation find their way into the hands of children.”
Chuck Grassley did not name any video games that affected children directly and it’s unclear whether he has plans to introduce a bill to limit video game availability.
A California measure that sought to limit sales of violent titles died in front of the Supreme Court, which reaffirmed the fact that video games were protected under the First Amendment of the Constitution.
