14 DAY TRIAL // The world of celebrity entertainment is still debating after the shocking video of Solange Knowles and Jay Z scuffling in an elevator after the Met Ball in NYC emerged online. People are trying to get to the bottom of this weird scandal, and the first explanations are popping up.
A report from Hollywoodlife claims that Solange was actually attacking Jay Z in order to protect her older sister, which is why she didn't intervene to aid her husband and seemed to be very uneasy about the entire matter.
An insider reports that “Solange doesn’t like the way Jay Z controls Beyonce. Beyonce would never speak up to him or defend herself, so Solange does it. Solange is not afraid of him and is fed up with him calling all the shots in Beyonce’s life.”
The same source reports that Jay and Solange were in a heated argument right before the Met Ball, and it sparked into a full-fledged attack at the after party at the Standard Hotel's Boom Boom Room. Despite the fact that they arrived in the same car, the couple seemed distant, and Beyonce was seen walking well ahead of her husband as they made their way into the hotel.
“Solange doesn’t like that Jay Z is so controlling. That’s why Beyonce didn’t do anything, because Solange was coming to HER defense. Solange and Beyonce are extremely tight and Solange has always been very protective of her. Obviously Solange couldn’t take it anymore and flipped out,” the source adds.
After the brawl, Beyonce posted an interesting message on her Instagram. In it, she addressed God, and she asked Him to give her “discernement” and “strength”, which would allow her to separate herself from “anyone who is not a good influence.”
Of course, at the moment, we can't really say if that's meant to be for Jay or Solange, since the reports are contradicting. The contradicting part addresses the issue of Solange's odd behavior, which was put in the past down to drug use.
Let's not forget that Solange abruptly canceled her European tour last summer without any plausible explanation, and it was put down to drug-related incidents, since she's been an admitted user for years. Throughout the years, she's confessed to having trouble with substance abuse.
In 2008, she confirmed she used weed regularly and even wrote a song about it, “Champagne Chronic Nightcap.” At the time, she said, “I am unapologetic. I don't write about things unless they're true!”
In 2009, she admitted on Twitter that she had gotten herself into the hospital after a Nyquil overdose, and a few months later she concluded that drugs were starting to affect her mind. “I don’t even smoke weed that often, but I’m finding I can’t remember things,” a tweet from September 1, 2009 read.
But she didn't look high in photos taken at the party, which again raises eyebrows and offers little information on the nature of this scandal. Stay tuned, updates are coming.
