Minnesota Rep. Ryan Winkler has apologized on his Twitter account for a comment that many have dubbed racist. Winkler excuses himself for hinting to racism, but does not say that he is sorry for what he said.

According to Sunshine State News, Winkler was discussing the Supreme Court's decision on the Voting Rights Act. He takes a stab at African-American Justice Clarence Thomas, a Democrat.

“#SCOTUS VRA majority is four accomplices to race discrimination and one Uncle Thomas,” he wrote.

An apology has come soon after his original statement, but can be understood as saying that he is only taking back how he said what he actually meant.

The apologetic tweets have been attached above this blog post, on the right. Winkler mentions that he doesn't think that the expression “Uncle Thomas” implies racism.
