Just days ago, reports cited by a US weekly had it that actor Robert Pattinson had finally decided to launch a music album, and that he’d probably do so in a matter of weeks. A rep for the star is now denying these rumors. Pattinson, who is known to his fans both for his acting in “The Twilight Saga” and for his music, is believed to have been considering a music career for years.
According to the aforementioned report, he simply never found the time to go into the studio and lay down the tracks for his debut album, but now that he was done with “Twilight,” he could do just that.
None of that is true, his publicist says in a statement cited by
AceShowbiz.
“The report is untrue. He is not working on an album right now,” says the rep.
Fans will surely be disappointed to hear that, especially since many of them have been very supportive of Robert’s musical efforts throughout the years.
Moreover, the report said the album would be something truly special.
“The album Rob will make will be guitar-based and drums, very organic-sounding, nothing pop. Like stripped-down Ray LaMontagne meets Van Morrison,” unnamed sources said.
The rep’s denial comes to add more strength to what Robert was saying a while back, when word got out that he’d been offered a record deal by none other than Simon Cowell.
At the time, he said he turned down the offer because, while Simon has a God-given talent for spotting artists that can deliver products that audiences will love, his music is definitely not a large crowd pleaser.
“I am selfish with my music. I get my guitar and I play what I like, but the problem is I don’t think many other people would like it,” he said, as we
also reported at the time.
However, he joked, there was still some hope for him to attain international fame: he’d become famous and universally loved when he dies.
