14 DAY TRIAL // At the beginning of this week, it emerged that singer and multi-award winning DJ Sonique had been diagnosed with breast cancer and admitted to a London specialized clinic in order to have emergency surgery and treatment. The star’s rep has just confirmed for several British news agencies that the cancer has spread to her lymph nodes and possibly to her organs as well, as the Daily Mail informs.
According to a statement just released, Sonique’s condition is anything but good, with her cancer having spread to the lymph nodes under the arms and the distinct possibility that it might have also affected her organs, as test results showed yesterday. Consequently, the British star has been rushed into another surgery this morning and will have further tests performed to see whether she can be cleared of cancer, the publication says.
“Sonique has been taken back into theatre for another operation this morning as the cancer has spread.” spokesperson Stuart Watts tells the media. Further details on the singer’s condition have not yet been made available. Fans waiting for Sonique’s upcoming concerts, lined up throughout the summer months in most European major cities, as well as for her single “World of Change” to drop (initially scheduled for July and pushed back indefinitely), will have to wait some more until this kind of details are being taken care of.
As we were also telling you a few days ago, DJ Sonique is not the only star to have been diagnosed with breast cancer, and neither is she the only one to make her diagnosis public. Christina Applegate, for instance, of the “Married with Children” fame and a fixture on the comedy scene has often spoken about her traumatizing experience with the disease, which left her in need of a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery. She has now been cleared of cancer, but is still struggling to return to her normal life from before the diagnosis.
