Renault has decided to go green and launch its first electric vehicle, to satisfy the demand of a large segment of eco-conscious buyers. The company has recently delivered its zero emission Kangoo van in the UK.

Apart from the environmental benefits, its small price counts as a major plus. Apparently, it costs almost £17,000 (€20,408/$26,647) far less than any other competitor on the market, NextGreenCar informs.

Even after adding the monthly battery hire worth £60 (€72/$94), the costs are still acceptable. Van Z.E. displays a 106 miles range, enough to please most of the EV fans.

Lower costs and a much more eco-friendly electric motoring are two important features that have already convinced several important companies in the UK to purchase the green van to green up their fleet, according to Renault officials.

Renault has also highlighted that reducing the carbon emissions of its cars has always been one of its sustainability goals; therefore, the delivery of Kangoo Van Z.E. represents a major achievement.

The vehicle price seems reasonable especially for an electric. The range is very good if that figure has not been exaggerated too much. What kind of battery does it use? I do think the monthly battery "hire" would discourage me and many others from considering this van. Why not incorporate this fee in the price? If the company could make a small passenger vehicle for a base price of around $20,000 without the monthly fee, I think they would have a winner especially with the great range offered. I live in the US and would like to see it offered here too. Good luck with your venture! Don
