In a discussion on Branch, Apple pundit John Gruber shared his thoughts about Apple’s potential iPad 5 launch event this month, noting that even if it gets pushed to May, it would not witness the unveiling of a new iOS version as well.

Dropping a bit of a bombshell in a discussion spawned by a Wall Street Journal report, Daring Fireball’s John Gruber revealed that Apple was late to deliver iOS 7, adding that the company was actually sourcing developers from its own Mac OS teams to get the show on the road.

Gruber also weighed in on the misconception that Apple could unveil its redesigned 5th-generation iPad alongside iOS 7 this summer.

“As for events, I've heard nothing, but I'd think Apple would like to introduce the new Mini-style full-size iPad in April. If we don't see it in April, I'd guess that it's late. And if it's late, I think they'd do a standalone event in May rather than hold it until WWDC in (I presume) June,” he wrote.

“I don't think they would want to unveil the new iPad at WWDC alongside iOS 7,” Grubber noted, “because the new iPad won't ship with iOS 7,” he added.

He explained the reasoning behind his theory, saying “It'd be weird to introduce the iPad and do demos of crufty old iOS 6 and then moments later show off the new hotness of iOS 7.”

Makes total sense.
