UPDATE: Trine 2 has also received release dates for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Linux platforms, which you can check out here.

Frozenbyte is getting ready to release its latest game, Trine 2, this week, with the Steam version scheduled to appear on December 7, while the retail version, in the form of a special Collector’s Edition, will be out on December 9 across Europe.

Trine 1 impressed lots of players with its tricky puzzle mechanics and 2D side-scrolling gameplay, and its sequel is looking to further improve on the experience, add some even better graphics, as well as the often requested online multiplayer.

We’ve had a chance to enjoy the beta stage of the game, which packs in the first sequence of adventures, and we’re quite impressed with what the team at Frozenbyte has managed to deliver.

Check out a video of the first three levels, each focusing on the Wizard, Warrior, and Thief, and get ready for Trine 2’s release this week.
