As expected, major carrier Microsoft's Danger Service for T-Mobile Sidekick users is nearing its end days

The carrier made an initial announcement on March 1st, in which it informed its customers who own Sidekick phones that Microsoft will no longer provide cloud data services, effective May 31st.

However, T-Mobile USA promised Sidekick users that it will provide them with special offers to make the transition to new devices much easier.

In addition, a special web tool will be available via T-Mobile's website that will allow Sidekick users to export personal data, contacts, photos, calendar entries, notes, lists, bookmarks, and more from the Danger Service to a new phone or a computer.

Unfortunately, the web tool will only allow Sidekick users to export their data between May 31st and June 30th, after which the Sidekick data center will be permanently closed and all data deleted for protection reasons.

We want to remind customers as of May 31st, data services will no longer be available on Sidekick devices with the Danger Service, and ensure they understand their current options. Personal data on the phone as of May 31st will remain, so long as the battery is not removed or completely drained - if either occurs, all personal data on the device will be discarded,” T-Mobile USA.

Although Sidekick customers will still be able to place phone calls and send text messages, as of May 31 they will not be able to access the Internet, send or receive e-mail, or access personal data on the service directly from the phone.

There's also an application in the Sidekick Catalog that will help users export personal data to the Sidekick’s memory card.

The carrier also announced that multiple T-Mobile stores can transfer data from that card to a new T-Mobile device if customers bring in the memory card and Sidekick device.

Obviously, the following reminder will not affect the Sidekick 4G smartphones manufactured by Samsung and available for purchase via T-Mobile USA.
