SunTrust's site was also disrupted on Wednesday by the same group

Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Cyber Fighters have once again kept their promise and launched a distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attack against the website of Regions Financial Corp (regions.com).

On Wednesday, they took aim at the site owned by SunTrust and today, right on schedule, they seem to be focusing their efforts on the one of Regions Bank.

A couple of days ago, Regions representatives told Fox Business that the organization was aware of the threats. At the time, they claimed they were “taking every measure” to protect the company and customers.

Currently, the site appears to be experiencing some performance issues, but it seems to be accessible from the United States. On the other hand, we cannot access it from a Romania IP, which might mean that certain IP address ranges are restricted in order to mitigate the attack.

The hackers claim that during the upcoming weekend they will plan the next attacks, which means that the campaign against US financial institutions – Operation Ababil – will likely continue.
