Users of Valve’s new Source Filmmaker program have found some rather interesting mentions in the tool’s various files, with lines of code referring to the next-generation Source 2 game engine and to Half-Life 2: Episode 3.

Valve released the Source Filmmaker tool last month and it was quickly adopted by lots of intrepid gamers who started creating their own videos made right in the program.

Now, after many came to grips with the program’s different tools, some gamers have started looking for so-called Easter Eggs in its code.

Their results were quite impressive, with fan site ValveTime confirming that over 60 references are made to the next-generation Source 2 game engine.

The most important is: ''Return an str with the current engine version. If key doesn't doesn't exist, assume 'Source', otherwise invalid -- assume next-gen 'Source 2'.''

What’s more, an intrepid Reddit user also found a mention to Half-Life 2: Episode 3, with one line of code referring to a model for the character Alyx.

Of course, these references are just circumstantial, so don’t expect Valve to comment on them anytime soon.
