It has a 48-inch USB wire that vanishes into the hidden reel

I've seen plenty of portable batteries and power banks, some really compact and others not as much, but I've never gushed from joy before. I still haven't, but the Reeljuice is the only thing that ever came close.

The subject of a very new Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign, Reeljuice is reputed to be the only portable power solution with “patented, retractable, industrial grade cord reel technology.”

Since I've never seen the like before, despite how many gadgets I've encountered, I'll assume that to be the unvarnished truth.

Reeljuice is a pretty cool item, thin and wide instead of long and cylindrical. It can definitely feel more natural when stuffed in a pocket.

It's not just one module either, but two. There's a removable 10W rapid charging module, and the larger body that carries the bulk of the energy.

You should be able to recharge a smartphone six times (usually, it's just one charge and a half or so), but since you don't just get a micro-USB port you can replenish the energy of a laptop or larger tablet too, in a pinch.

As for the cable itself, it has a length of 48 inches / 1.2 meters and will stay extended after being pulled out, until you press the reel retract switch.

The Reeljuice 10 can be yours for $89 / €89, but a Reeljuice 5 (with a charge good enough for only 3 phone recharges) costs $59 / €59. Only if you hurry though.
