The popular Reeder app by Silvio Rizzi has received an important update today adding Feedbin support as its first-third party alternative to Google Reader, which is scheduled to shut down in a few months.

With Google Reader set to close in July, Reeder developer Silvio Rizzi is taking the necessary precautions not to leave users hanging when Google finally pulls the plug in less than three months from now.

With the newly-added Feedbin support, Reeder now has its very first third-party sync service as an alternative to Google Reader. More information is available here.

In version 3.1, users also get local/standalone RSS support, as well as pull-to-refresh and various bug fixes.

Reeder is compatible with iOS 5.1 devices, including iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th generation) and iPad.
