Reeder 2 is the best and most elegant iPhone and Mac app when it comes to RSS Feed Readers. The independent developer taking care of this app has just added a few new services so you can really take advantage of the feature set.

Reeder 2 used to be the go-to app for many fans of RSS, but the app was missing some of the small and popular services. The developer changed that with a recent update that went out in the AppStore for iOS and Mac.

First of all, the new Reeder 2 for iOS and Reeder 2 for Mac can handle much better syncing services like Feedbin and Feed Wrangler. They also fix a crash when syncing with Fever and has a bug fix for the occasional missing window buttons in minimal layout mode and missing videos.

But the most important part comes with the new syncing services. The popular ones like Feedbin, Feedly, Feed Wrangler and Fever are still there. The first new service is FeedHQ – a service described as being built with readability and mobility in mind.

FeedHQ costs $12 (€8.91) per year and it brings open standards to import and export your data as OPML. You can also export to Readability, Instapaper or Pocket. If you read a tech blog, you can actually use syntax highlighting and their own easy-to-remember keyboard shortcuts. FeedHQ is basically a web-based feed reader developed on an open-source project. You can get the code on GitHub, see how it works, and even host it yourself.

Newsblur is dubbed as a personal news reader. You can get real-time RSS, share the stories with friends or in a blog. The service is free for up to 64 sites and some other limitations, but you can get the full version for @4 per year.

The Old Reader aims to do just that – recreate the old Google Reader experience for current customers. It is a simple, social RSS Reader. The Old Reader is free for up to 100 feeds. There's also a premium version for $3/month that will get you full text search, faster refresh times, up to 500 subscriptions and Instapaper and Readability integration.

Other new syncing services include Inoreader, Minimal Reader or BazQux Reader. The developer of Reeder 2, Silvio Rizzi announced that the next version of Reeder, the big 3.0 will be a free one for all existing users.

Reeder 2 is $4.99 for iPhone and iPad and $9.99 for OS X.
