After experiencing some problems with the release of the redesigned PlayStation Store in Europe, Australia, or New Zealand, Sony has confirmed that it’s delaying the release of the new marketplace in North and Latin America.

The PlayStation Store has been getting a lot of attention lately, as Sony has decided to emphasize its role for PS3 and PS Vita owners by offering a variety of full-fledged games as digital downloads right when they’re released on the market.

In order to make the whole experience that much more intuitive, Sony confirmed that a redesigned interface for the PS Store would be released the ongoing month.

Sadly, the rollout planned for Europe, Australia, or New Zealand last week didn’t go so well, forcing Sony to revert back to the old interface for the time being.

Now, while it’s working to solve these issues, Sony has confirmed that it won’t be releasing the redesign this week in North and Latin Americas.

“As you may know, we launched the new PlayStation Store for PlayStation 3 earlier this week in Australia, New Zealand and several countries in Europe. Although the new PS Store is operating smoothly in most countries, there have been some issues that caused inconvenience for users,” Sony’s Vice President of Network Entertainment, Eric Lempel, said on the PS blog.

“While we’ve already solved many of these issues, we’ve decided to postpone the October 23rd launch of the new store in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Brazil. We want to be certain that you have an exceptional experience with the new store, so we appreciate your patience as we complete the final phases before launch.”

As of yet, however, Sony isn’t ready to offer a new release date for the redesigned PlayStation Store, so expect a formal announcement in the near future, once it eliminates all the bugs.
