Without a doubt, Asus is, once again, one of the most important exhibitors at the CeBIT show in Hannover, Germany, the company bringing out, beside numerous other cool products, several redesigned notebooks pertaining to the company's K series.
Beside featuring some important hardware updates, the external design of the updated K-series notebooks has also gone through a couple of modifications, featuring durable aluminum cases, as well as the very innovative IceCool technology, that manages to keep the palm rest cool, no matter how long one might use the respective notebook.
The company claims that these aluminum panels deliver a very good level of resilience to “wear and tear”, maintaining their elegant look for longer periods of time.
Another interesting feature provided by the three models in the K-Series (K73, K53 and K43) is represented by the ASUS Palm Proof technology, capable of automatically detecting whether users have placed their fingers on the touchpad intentionally or not and preventing the cursor from moving.
Now, going on to the
hardware side, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that ASUS implemented the latest technological developments within their new K-Series laptops, that now feature the Huron River mobile Sandy Bridge CPUs (or 2'nd Generation Intel Core mobile processors, if you prefer the more official denomination).
Moreover, the K-series laptops also sport NVIDIA Optimus technology, enabled by the discrete GeForce GT 500 GPUs found in all of the notebooks, the most powerful available version being the GeForce GT 540M with 2GB of GDDR3 memory (except for the K43 model).
For the time being, Asus has refrained from providing any pricing-related information for their redesigned and updated K-Series notebooks, but given the fact that we're talking about a face-lift, rather than completely new models, we hope that the price points won't climb too high, compared to their predecessors.
