Google is rolling out the brand new Blogger to all users. It's been testing the redesigned and revamped site for several months now and Draft users have had access to it for a while. But now, all Blogger users will be switched over to the new site.

It's not available to everyone yet, it's a gradual roll-out and users will have to opt in, at first.

"It’s been a few years since we made major updates to Blogger’s look and feel, and there’s a lot more to these changes than just shiny new graphics," Chang Kim, product manager, wrote.

"We’ve rewritten the entire editing and management experience from scratch so it’s faster and more efficient for you—and easier for us to update and improve over time," he said.

The entire dashboard has been rewritten and redesigned. While most things will be familiar, there are plenty of changes in the visual department.

Google also says that it should be easier to get to the things you do the most in the dashboard.

There's a new editor as well, with a larger writing area and simplified controls, to allow users to focus on the most important tasks.

Blogger users will start noticing a popup notifying them about the revamped site. The notification is rolling out over the next few days.

The new site is still optional, users have to opt in, but it will likely become the default and eventually the only option, once Google is satisfied that the new site works for all users.

This is not the only new thing coming from Blogger. Granted, a fully revamped site is a rather big change, but Google has more plans for the site.

For one, it's still working on a number of new blog templates. The templates are highly interactive and visually rich, taking advantage of HTML5 and CSS3.

I hope there will still be an opt-out setting. Google is notorious for giving itself carte blanche in determining the user's choice. Some people don't need all the bells and whistles and would be perfectly content using the software they're used to.

Ah, but such is Google, who basically owns the world...

But more importantly, I have some blogs I'm still working on getting together with elaborate third-party templates under the old interface (a sort of overlay on the "Classic" blank one). Will these templates/styles be allowed to stay or will I have to start from scratch and not be able to keep my old designs, which have really taken a lot of work to get "just right"?
