Not many users were probably aware that Reddit, the platform that gets more popular every month, has been supported in March 2011 by a single developer. Three more have recently been hired, just as the site got to 1.228 billion monthly pageviews.
In March, when two of the three developers behind Reddit quit within a single week, the future did not look very encouraging for the website.
Even though the platform was always run by a rather small team of people, one person could hardly be expected to face this challenge on their own.
However, not only did the site not slip down a dreary path, but it even managed to increase its number of unique visitors by 37 percent, from 13.7 million in January 2011 to 18.8 million in May.
More than that, it seems that the pageviews numbers have also risen from 999 million in January, to 1.228 billion in May, this accounting for about 25 percent increase.
A dedicated Reddit blog post reads: "The rest of 2011 is looking extremely bright, and we're ecstatic to announce three new programming hires who will help reddit continue to grow and improve."
Since it only makes sense that such traffic requires hardworking developers for supporting and helping it grow, Logan Hanks, Keith Mitchell and Brian Simpson joined the team.
Each of them will bring their knowledge, skills and talent to the benefit of the Reddit, thus making it expand and provide sound user experience.
The aforementioned blog post also thanks all the users who helped Reddit get more popular and attract more members, as well as those who offered means for financial support.
At the end of the day, it is the users who bring in all the contents and make all the traffic, so they should also be the ones who take at least part of the credit for making Reddit as successful as it currently is.
