The official Redbox Instant has finally arrived on Windows Phone platform and is now available for download via Windows Phone Store. However, not all fans of Microsoft's platform will be able to get it, as the application is exclusive to Nokia Lumia smartphones for the next 60 days.

For those unfamiliar with Redbox Instant, the service offers a free month of movies with a subscription that includes unlimited streaming of its collection of hit movies and four DVD rental nights.

Offered by Redbox and Verizon, the application is available for free, but requires $8 a month, a Redbox Instant by Verizon subscription plan that includes four rental nights, plus the ability to stream thousands of popular movies.

“By collaborating with Microsoft and Nokia, Redbox Instant by Verizon has the opportunity to reach an important segment of the mobile user market and offer a destination for movies that's deeply integrated with the unique Windows Phone 8 design principles and user interface.

“As mobile phones transform into entertainment hubs for consumers, we want to ensure they have instant access to a great selection of movies,” said Shawn Strickland, CEO of Redbox Instant by Verizon.

Additionally, Redbox announced a Blu-ray package is also available for an extra dollar. This will allows customers who pay the extra fee to head to the kiosk and get the movie they missed while in theaters, before it's available on other subscription services.

“Apps come to life on Windows Phone thanks to features like Live Tiles. Redbox Instant by Verizon takes advantage of these features to enable users to enjoy their favorite movies on the go, concluded Todd Brix, general manager, Windows Apps and Store, Microsoft.

You can now download Redbox Instant for Windows Phone for free via Windows Phone Store. Keep in mind the application should be fully compatible with all Nokia Lumia smartphones powered by Windows Phone 8 and up.
