After hacking into the website of Turkey’s Foreign Ministry, some of the country’s officials said that the notorious RedHack group would be placed on the list of terrorist organizations. However, prosecutors have ruled that the hackers are not terrorists.

Although they’ve hacked several high-profile organizations and their activities are illegal, prosecutors investigating RedHack’s attacks say the hackers cannot be treated as a terrorist organization because their activities are not violent, Hurriyet Daily News reveals.

A trial against 10 of the group’s members began in November 2012. At the time, prosecutors sought prison sentences of up to 24 years for the hackers.

On the other hand, the trial against their alleged members didn’t stop the hacktivists from continuing their operations. Their latest targets are the Istanbul Governor’s Office, the Higher Education Board, and the Constitutional Board.
