Turkish authorities have recently arrested 14 individuals suspected of being involved in cyberattacks launched by the RedHack hacktivist collective. They were all released, but a few days later, one of them, Taylan Kulaçoğlu, was once again taken into custody.

Police believe he is one of the leaders of RedHack. However, the hackers deny that the man is affiliated with them in any way.

On Thursday, they’ve published a video demanding that the government release Kulaçoğlu.

“People practicing their right to freedom speech and freedom of assembly is threatened with arbitrary arrests and prison. Law has lost its legitimacy and that’s why dictator PM Erdogan openly wages war against people who criticizes his ill-fated politics of divide and rule,” the hackers said.

“We can only win against these evil policies if we can unite and fight. This is not far, because we take our legitimacy from the leaders who have sacrificed their lives for the people.”

Such statements are usually followed by protests and cyberattacks, so stay tuned.
