Red Wii and DS Bundles Celebrate 25 Mario Anniversary

Nintendo has announced that it is preparing to launch new limited edition bundles for hardware that will celebrate the 25 years since Super Mario Bros. was first launched, coming to both the North American and the European markets.

On November 7 North American gamers will be able to pick up a limited edition bundle that includes the Wii home console in a bright red color, a red Wii Remote controller with included Motion Plus add on and better motion tracking, a red Nunchuck, a copy of Wii Sports and a copy of New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

This entire package will sell for 199 dollars.

The Japanese version of the same bundle, arriving on November 11, will have Super Mario Bros. installed on the console with all the question mark boxes now marked as 25.

In Europe the package will also offer the NES version of Donkey Kong offered for the Wii when it is released on October 29.

On November 7 Nintendo is also shipping a DSi XL based bundle, which includes a system in the same red color, with case drawings evoking Super Mario, a copy of Mario Kart and Brain Age Express: Arts & Letters, Brain Age Express: Math, and Photo Clock pre installed.

This bundle will cost 179.99 dollars.

The same package comes to Europe on October 29 and swaps out Mario Kart DS for New Super Mario Bros for the handheld while the Japanese edition will not have any video game packed in but gamers there can pick up a special edition DSi in red.

Marc Franklin, who is the director of Public Relations at Nintendo of America has said when the new bundles were announced that, “Whether shoppers want to add a cool new look to their gaming setup or expand their supply of controllers with an exciting game, Nintendo offers a great value for the holidays. For anyone who is still on the fence about whether to join the world of video games, we’re offering many fun, easy, economical ways to get involved.”
