Red cups can also curb soft drink consumption, researchers say

Those who think that they could benefit from losing a few pounds and also have money to spend might want to head to the nearest store and buy themselves lots of red plates.

Apparently, people who eat from such plates gulp down less food than they would were their meals to be presented to them on plates of a different color.

Thus, experiments carried out with the help of volunteers have shown that pretzels served on a red plate are less appealing than those served on a white or blue one.

Specifically, people tend to eat fewer of them, Discover Magazine tells us.

Specialists theorize that, all things considered, the red color acts as a very subtle stop signal that tells people they probably should not finish everything on their plate.

Interestingly enough, it appears that the same is true for cups. More precisely, odds are people will consume less soft drinks when the latter are presented to them in red containers.

Though I am willing to accept that red plates can help people eat less, I very much doubt that red containers can curb soft drinks consumption. Coca Cola would've long been out of business if they did.
