The Red River Zoo in North Dakota is now home to an adorable red panda cub. The baby panda was born here about a month ago, and it's growing stronger every day.

The people in charge of looking after it say that Mattie, as this male cub is named, it healthy and active.

Despite being fairly curious and eager to learn new things, it has not yet ventured outside its den.

According to Zoo Borns, it will probably be some weeks before Mattie sets out to explore the outdoor exhibit area. When it does so, odds are visitors to the zoo will be delighted to see it.

The red panda bear cub's parents, dad Yukiko and mom Shantou, are both eight years old.

They have been living at the Red River Zoo since 2007, when they were imported here all the way from Japan.
