Just days ago, Epic and Illuminate Labs were announcing their agreement to incorporate Illuminate's global illumination system, Beast, into the famous Unreal Engine 3. More recently, Red Mile Entertainment, too have announced their agreement with the company behind the Unreal Tournament series, to license the UE3 for use in the upcoming Sin City video game.

"The Unreal Engine is one of the most technically advanced engines on the market and is a perfect fit for our Sin City video games," said Glenn Wong, president and COO for Red Mile. "The engine has powered several of the best-selling games of all time and I am very glad we have the opportunity to arm our developers with such a world-class product."

"We're extremely excited to be working with Red Mile," said Mark Rein, vice president of Epic Games, Inc. "We have been Frank Miller / Sin City fans for a long time and are pleased that our technology will be a key factor, and we're confident that they're going to make a great game with it."

Following the licensing agreement with Illuminate Labs (creators of rendering and lighting technology for next-generation games), Epic Games will be incorporating Illuminate Labs' global illumination system, Beast, into UE3. Illuminate Labs' tech will be immediately available to any publisher or developer that licenses UE3, so Red Mile Entertainment is sure to make good use of the platform-independent baker.

Yes, Beast is also a fully platform-independent baker that utilizes the open-standard FBX file format, which allows users to easily add extremely complex baking functionality to 3D asset creation tools. So if the upcoming Sin City video game is benefiting from all this, it is safe to say that visuals is going to be the game's strong point.

Back in October, Red Mile Entertainment was engaging an industry writing and production talent to participate in the development of Red Mile's Sin City game game: animation veteran, Flint Dille, who will spearhead the design, scriptwriting, story generation, and overall production of Sin City: The Game.
