Red Hay and Fedora Core have included the latest open-source novelties into the last version of this Linux distribution, called Fedora Core 4.

Fedora Core is not based on software patents such as MP3 file support, and uses as graphical interfaces Gnome 2.10 and
KDE 3.

Among the novelties associated to this version we mention the compatibility with the PowerPC (PPC and PPC64) architecture and the GFS file system which uses to the full extent the cluster system networks. Fedora Core 4 also integrates Xen 2, a virtualization tool which allows the user to run several operating systems.

The distribution includes OpenOffice.org 2.0 and a client for accessing PDF documents called Evince.

The next version of Fedora Core, 5, is already under development, the main categories and applications that require updates and improvements being already known.
