The new Linux distribution from Red Hat is codenamed Tikanga

Red Hat has announced the availability of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.8 Beta, codenamed Tikanga, for all the customers and partners.

The developer of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.8 Beta, consider this Linux distribution to be a minor release, but it includes a broad set of updates to the existing features and new features in various areas, such as power, virtualization and security management.

Highlights of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.8 Beta:

· Support for Power Management Quality of Service; · Configuration of IP over Infiniband (IPoIB) adapters is now available right from the system installer; · PCI-e 3.0 is finally supported; · The number of network and storage driver enhancements has been increased; · OpenSCAP support is now compliant with SCAP 1.1; · Xen enhancements for improved virtualization.
