Red Hat Certifies SGI UV 1000 Server

Red Hat announced that it has certified SGI servers with the largest x86 server configuration to-date for Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating system.

The announcement has been made at the SC11 supercomputing conference in Seattle. This partnersip will reap the benefits of the newest generation of Intel processors and SGI’s computing technology for customers with data-intensive workloads.

Customers know when using Red Hat Certified Hardware their Red Hat Enterprise Linux environment will receive the best available support,” said Gunnar Hellekson, chief technology strategist, public sector, Red Hat, Inc.

Through the Red Hat Hardware Certification Program, the SGI UV 1000 server with 1,280 cores and 8TB of memory is now certified to run on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.

Red Hat Hardware Certification Program was launched back in 1999 and they work with hardware vendors worldwide.
