Today, Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation has officially announced the Red flavor of the HTC One M8 flagship smartphone, and the phone is already up for pre-order in the UK.

Users in the country interested in grabbing the device can now head over to MobileFun’s website to reserve the phone. The handset features a price tag of £549.99 ($924/€674), VAT included, and is available SIM-free and unlocked.

Earlier today, Jeff Gordon, HTC global communication manager, has announced on Twitter the official launch of the Red flavor of the HTC One M8 in Taiwan.

He has also linked to an official image of the device, available via Sketchfab, which allows users to have a closer, 3D look at the phone.

An official press render of the phone is available via MobileFun as well, following the availability of a series of leaked similar images with it.

Initially available in Gunmetal Gray, Glacial Silver and Amber Gold, HTC’s latest flagship smartphone was also put up for pre-order in Aqua Blue yesterday, with the new variant increasing the number of color options it is available in to five.

The same as the previous models, the new Red variant features a metallic body with a brushed finish and sports the same hardware specifications as the original models.

Thus, those who will choose to grab the smartphone will enjoy a 5-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a full HD resolution, as well as a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor inside it.

Moreover, the mobile phone features 2GB of RAM, along with 16GB of internal memory, as well as a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes.

“With a sleek red aluminum body, a live home screen that streams all of your favourite content, a beautiful 5" 1080p display and dual frontal stereo speakers, the HTC One M8 with 16GB of internal memory is ready to reshape your smartphone,” the UK retailer notes on its website.

HTC One M8 also features a dual 4MP UltraPixel camera setup on the back, so as to provide users with a great imaging experience at all times. The phone also sports a 5-megapixel camera on the front, which should deliver great video calling capabilities to all users.

The handset also comes with BoomSound technology, as well as with support for LTE networks, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, GPS receiver, and the usual set of sensors inside.

HTC One M8 runs under the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system right from the start, while also featuring HTC’s Sense 6.0 user interface loaded on top.

Now that the Red variant of the phone is official, it remains to be seen which markets will receive it and when exactly that will happen. Stay tuned for more on this.
