It will appear in summer

A lot of games boast the fact that they have destroyable environments, but this feature is usually limited to a few doors and/or wooden boxes, with many other things like buildings and barricades capable of withstanding even a rocket launched straight into them.

But the Red Faction series of titles has managed to make true destroyable environments a reality in video games, with the main character being able to destroy every piece of his surroundings with a variety of weapons. Set to make a comeback with Red Faction: Guerrilla, the Volition-developed game will be published by THQ and released on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in a week or so.

But you might be wondering what happened with the PC version, which, up until now, was scheduled to appear at the same time as the console release. Well, it seems that it has been pushed back because of problems encountered in the porting procedure, and will arrive at a much later date this summer.

According to Joystiq, who cites close sources, the release day might be August 25, almost three months later that the console version. Contacted for statements, a representative for THQ limited himself to saying that it would appear this summer, and, with August still being a summer month, it may look like PC users who want to destroy everything in their immediate surroundings will have to wait.

Hopefully, the team at Reactor Zero, which will handle the porting, will deliver a great experience, and wash away the sad memories of Saints Row 2, which suffered from a very poor port to the PC platform, a thing that made a lot of gamers quite angry at THQ and at Volition, which also developed the open-world title. Until we can get a concrete release date for the PC version, you'd better look forward to the console release soon.
