Get ready to destroy things

The summer season isn't one filled with high-quality blockbuster releases, as many companies tend to delay or scheduled their titles before the winter holiday season, when people are much more likely to drop big money on their favorite hobbies, including gaming.

But one of the few interesting releases of the summer is the Volition-developed and THQ-published Red Faction Guerrilla. The game has already been released on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but it seems that PC users still have a lot of waiting to do, as the two companies announced a few months ago that the PC iteration would be delayed, as opposed to the console versions.

As such, THQ saw fit to announce a concrete release date when PC gamers would get a chance to start destroying almost every piece of a Martian colony in the game. Even though August was speculated a few weeks ago, it seems that Red Faction Guerrilla will be appearing on September 11 for “international” customers and September 15 for residents of North America.

Alongside a retail release, it seems that the game will also be available on a few digital download services. Sadly THQ is “still finalizing the digital distribution partners for each region,” meaning that no details about what services it will deliver can be announced.

Besides this piece of information, the company also released the minimum and recommended PC configuration that anyone should have in order to play Red Faction Guerrilla. Here are the requirements:

Minimum: # OS: Windows XP / Vista # CPU: 2.0 GHz Dual-Core Processor (Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Athlon X2) # Memory: 1GB RAM / 15GB of Hard Drive space # Video Card: 128MB 3D Video Card with Shader Model 3.0 Support (Nvidia GeForce 7600/ATI Radeon X1300)

Recommended: # OS: Windows Vista for DirectX 10 # CPU: 3.2 GHz Dual-Core Processor (Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Athlon X2) # Memory: 2GB RAM / 15GB of Hard Drive space # Video Card: 256MB 3D Video Card with Shader Model 3.0 Support (Nvidia GeForce 8800/ATI Radeon HD3850)

Overall, the requirements aren't that steep considering the fact that the game will feature completely destructible environments, which take a heavy toll on any game engine. Here's hoping that we make it until September without destroying anything in real life.
